I am new to using a wing but have kite surfed many times.

Although we have only used the kayak once due to the weather. We were very pleased with the quality, stability and ease of inflation / deflation.

The staff at Sandbanks Style were great, when we met them at the Southampton boat show, they were very helpful and took time to explain all the features of the kayak.

As a bonus for us, we were able to try the kayak at the show.

I’m fairly new to paddling but have always been doing water based hobbies. Encouraged to go for a touring board as we have estuary and fresh water nearby. Really impressed with the build quality of the board and all components. It felt pretty stable both when standing and transitioning from kneeling to standing. My friends were in kayaks and I was able to keep up with them fairly easily. The paddle felt comfortable and surprisingly light for a stock paddle.I had it slightly longer than the guide measurements on it. The slight up curve to the nose worked really well with the wavelets when paddling into the wind. I used the safely belt included which converts the ankle strap to a quick release strap and couldn’t feel it at all while moving around on the board, really comfortable. Once inflated It was pretty easy to carry approx 200 metres down the road to the water and I was surprised as felt quite light and the handle soft and easy to grip. The fin was a little tight but a suggestion of applying a little silicone grease or vaseline to the sliding edge worked wonders. I am a 55 yr old female weighing about 10 1/2 stone. I wanted a board that would be practical on estuary or fresh water and to be completely independent when transporting and getting ready to paddle without any help. It deflated easily and once rinsed off and wiped dry ( I like to take care of my kit) it fitted easily back into the carry bag. The bag feels quite heavy to carry but it’s a decent sized board so understandable. It has good handles and straps and excellent quality wheels for longer transportation.

Pleased with my quick release leash, it arrived quickly.
Not yet had the opportunity to use it due to poor weather but it looks well made.
Pleased I now have it for stand-up paddle boarding on inland waterways to provide an extra element of safety.

Spoke to the shop one day, seat's arrived the next, and very nice they are too. You can't get better service than that can you?
The slight padding is just enough to keep your bum off a wet deck. Perfect!

Absolutely delighted with my first SUP purchase from Sandbanks. Everything needed came in the package and it all worked perfectly. Managed a 2 mile canal trip on my first outing without falling in so must be pretty stable. Being 68 years old I was thinking I might struggle a little, but not at all. Thoroughly recommend this board to anyone. Can't wait to get out on it again!

Bought recently and used twice on a fast flowing river. As good as floated over the water and was so easy to paddle up stream and super quick down stream. Very very stable and with the skeg tracks straight. Only hard part is pumping up by hand but like anything easily fixed buying a electric pump

I'm a complete beginner, and had recently borrowed a TAHE HP2, and enjoyed it so much, I wanted to purchase my own kayak. The Optimal is every bit as good as the TAHE, but at a far better price. The staff at Sandbanks Style spent plenty of time with me, answering all my queries, and helping me make the right choice of style and size. I went for the Optimal Double, even though most my my kayaking will be solo. My first trip out was solo on the Beaulieu River. The optimal was easy to set up, and I had a great 3 hours out on the water. Very stable (more so than the TAHE), easy to manoeuvre, and comfortable. There are 2 very minor improvements that could be made, and I think Sandbanks Style are already looking at. A footrest and a carrying handle along the side. Neither are necessary of you are always 2-up, but as a solo in a double, they would make a difference. But neither would put me off buying from buying an Optimal again.
